Voltage issues may arise in some parts of the electricity network where there are a large number of rooftop solar connections. To help manage voltage levels in the area, the local distribution network service provider may limit export from additional connections.
Your local distribution network service provider should inform you if this is the case in your area. You can still apply for the rebate once your system has been installed and you provide all the required documents.
In most instances you won’t need a permit to install a solar PV system. Some local governments may require a permit in certain circumstances, for example if you are in a heritage overlay area or your property is a listed heritage building. Generally, even if you are in a heritage area, many councils still don’t require permits if your solar SV system is not visible from the street (or a public park). Contact your local council for advice.
From 1 July 2019
When applications re - open on 1 July 2019, So lar Victoria will be implementing a point - of - sale rebate scheme. This means that applicants must apply for and receive eligibility confirmation before signing a contract with a solar retailer. Once installation is confirmed, the rebate and/or loan will b e paid to the solar retailer and deducted from the system price. If a householder installs a solar PV system without receiving eligibility confirmation, they will be unable to claim a rebate.
Once applications for solar PV rebates re - open, Solar Victoria will also offer a no - interest loan component to complement the solar PV rebate. Rebates for solar batteries and solar for renters will also commence on 1 July 2019.
The introduction of no - interest loans is one of the benefits of applying to the program after 1 July 2019.
